Predictor: Embers

Howard Gorman

Although the Manchester based band Embers only set up shop towards the end of last year they already look set to rival the likes of Muse and Radiohead with their amazingly cultivated sound. I swiftly compare them to Muse based on their adeptness in creating tracks that shout out “epic anthem” whilst craftfully blending in elements of psychedelia and classic rock with collosal choruses that the likes of Muse do best. That’s not to say they are just carbon copies. It’s pretty much like Muse when they started out. They were proclaimed carbon compies of Radiohead until they started experimenting and making their own sounds and I’m 99.9% sure that Embers are sewn from the same cloth.

Earlier this year they released the 7-inch off their own backs featuring the tracks Sins Unknown and Tunnel Vision which, for some unkown reason, only managed to attract a bit of attention but I’m sure that’s all about to change tack.

Based on a live performance they recently recorded on film at Manchester’s Gorton Monastery expect their gigs to boast a sting ensemble and choir. We’re still to encounter a track we haven’t enjoyed by the band on the net but the highlight is the massive Hollow Cage, coming in at a whopping seven and a half minutes long. It’s a stiff challenge to come up with something that can glue the listener’s attention for so long and they manage this in quantum leaps. Let us know what you think of the video below.

Be sure to keep up with the band on Facebook and on their website.
