Live In London - Barry Castagnola: Where's Barry?
Barry Castagnola has been making waves over the last few years as a highly talented comic performer, writer and actor. Aside from performing as a stand up on both the UK and International comedy circuits, he has devised, appeared in and penned quite an array of television projects. Most recently, Barry created and performed a variety of comedy characters for a number of new television shows – ‘The Secret Interview’ (Channel 5), ’Public Eye’ (Channel 4, to be broadcast later this year) and Dom Joly’s prime time ITV show ‘Fool Britannia’. He also made up one third of the award-winning spoof eco-warrior group Cyderdelic who took two hit shows to Edinburgh, made regular appearances on The 11 O’Clock show and had their own BBC3 series.
On the back of an enormously successful Edinburgh Fringe Festival month long run with his show ‘Where’s Barry’ (directed by Blaine Brothers), Barry has now announced two one-off London shows at the Soho Theatre on the 14th and 15th of January. Barry is running late for his show on a crucial night where his agent, press and TV people are all in, waiting to watch him. All his attempts to reach the venue are projected on a giant screen while a collection of characters including Figsy – an aspiring musician, Donny Donkins – a stand up performing in the same theatre, Maxwell Ford – his intransigent agent, and members of the Camford Players – an Oxbridge revue, hold the fort until he gets there…..to laugh out loud effect.
Where’s Barry featued in GQ’s Top 10 Picks of the Fringe so it’s certainly not to be missed… Don’t just take our word for it though. Check out this trailer for a glimpse of why it’s worth waiting for the protagonist to turn up late.
Mon 14th – Tue 15 January 2013 – Soho Theatre Upstairs – 8.45pm
Tickets: £10 (Available here)
