JEN BRISTER: NOW & THEN - Soho Theatre 21/22 June
South London comedian Jen Brister is back for two exclusive shows at the Soho Theatre on the 21st and 22nd of June providing audiences their last chance to catch her latest show ‘Now & Then’.
A regular performer in the UK and on circuits around the globe, Jen has also written for BBC Scotland, presented a stint at BBC6 Music and starred in Russell Brand’s Cloud Cuckoo Land on BBC Radio 2.
Now, at the age of 37, Jen finds herself at a stage in life where her glass is half empty and she’s struggling to fill it, particularly in the light of the fact that her greatest life achievement to date is getting an angry Tweet retweeted all of 22 times during an episode of Question Time.
Whilst performing a segment on Radio 4’s Women’s Hour, Jen learnt that before even considering setting her sights on what to do in the future she would need to delve into her past to discover just what it is that made her the woman she is today. Her latest show ‘Jen Brister: Now & Then’ is the result of this regressive psychology – a hilarious and ridiculous, hour-long series of personal anecdotes, taking us through her childhood years right up to the present day.
As fans will expect, the show will be delivered in her unique enthused, animated style as she shares her experiences growing up with three brothers, her inability to take any form of responsibility and her secret hope to one day discover something about camping that will make her like it so much more than she ever did as a kid.
You can keep up to date with Jen over on her own website where she regularly posts updates and insight into her life as a comedian. Interestingly enough, this is the latest thing she had to say about working in the business:
“I consider the profession of a comedian to be highly dysfunctional. Nothing about stand up comedy screams anything other than MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES!”
Head over there to find out more of her comedy musings and be sure to grab your tickets HERE for the Soho Theatre shows before they run out.
We’ll leave you with a video of Jen performing live at Comedy Asid in Kuala Lumpur.
