Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival
Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival 2013 drew to a close on the 24th February having featured over 530 events in 60 venues across Leicester and Leicestershire. Over 500 performers appeared and audiences flocked from across the UK to the event, the longest running comedy festival in Europe.
Keith Farnan, a former solicitor, has already stormed the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, been invited to appear on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and “One Night Stand” and has been proclaimed as the comedian Eddie Izzard would have been had he been Irish. Keith is all set to bring his show “Fear Itself” (currently work in progress) to Just The Tonic this Saturday as part of Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival to tickle Richard III’s ribs. We asked him what we can expect and, surprisingly, the word bone was quite the trending topic:
WitTank is one part Mark Cooper-Jones, Chortle Best Newcomer nominee, Loaded Laftas runner-up, one part Kieran Boyd, who also performs his own inventive, high-energy solo stand up, and Naz Osmanoglu, Half English posh-boy, half Turkish warlord, winner of the Amused Moose Laugh-off Competition, Chortle Best Newcomer Nominee , and Runner-up in So You Think You’re Funny. If that exceedingly long list of achievements didn’t already do them justice, you may well have seen their madcap sketches on the goggle box on BBC3′s Live At The Electric. The threesome will be taking their “very important sketch comedy” to Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival this very Friday, followed up by a full scale attack on the UK’s sense of humour with a giant tour over the coming months. What better a time to find out why the ‘three’s a crowd’ concept certainly doesn’t apply here?
Paul Sinha, qualified GP/stand-up comedian, is a more than familiar name, most recently thanks to his appearance on ITV’s fourth series of ‘The Chase’. Paul gained massive critical acclaim at 2006’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe with his second full length solo show “Saint or Sinha” which was nominated for the if.comedy award (formerly the Perrier). Since then there has been no looking back and 2013 looks set to be his biggest year yet.
